As a Bristol + Bath Creative R+D prototype team, we explored the future of immersive horror for their Amplified Publishing programme.
This was funded by the Creative Industries Clusters programme managed by the Arts & Humanities Research Council as part of the Industrial Strategy
During this project we created three prototypes to explore the use of:
- Intelligent design
- New forms of storytelling
- Web3 technologies
We discovered two needs for immersive horror producers:
1: To quickly iterate meaningful interactions
2: The desire for original, robust monsters
So we ended up creating:
1: A Monster Design toolkit which is a framework that can be used during design sessions
2: A Stormjam workshopping format, this is a fusion of video game and theatre devising techniques that don’t require any budget and gets makers testing their interactions
Both the Monster Design Toolkit and Stormjam are live sessions that we run for ourselves to create work but also is something we have been using for other immersive companies
We played with new forms of storytelling by prototyping a video game and film that will connect to a live event using Web3 technologies
This led to building the foundations of 'The Nightmare Market', a hybrid experience that incorporates Web3 technologies within a live show
